It is a set of innate characteristics that are honed over time through learning and experience. Not everyone can be a successful entrepreneur, just as not everyone can be a successful actor. Nothing can elevate a follower to the position of leader. That’s why you see some people always failing no matter how much capital they have to start a business.
Today, let’s talk about how someone can know that he or she has entrepreneurship traits within the self.
1). Leadership qualities.
A person who always wants to lead or naturally emerges in most situations and circumstances to lead a group or a movement and bring about success.
2). Problem solver.
A person who is always working harder to find solutions when a crisis arises. A person who doesn’t run away but stands up to hold a bull by its horns. A problem solver has a higher chance of becoming a successful entrepreneur.
3). Teamwork
A person who is able to work with a team as a leader. A person who is not self-centered will be able to convince people to work with him/her in a vision to make it successful.
4). A Dreamer.
A person who dreams of new ideas and tries to implement them. A person who sees what others can’t see. A person who is willing to convert a dream into reality.
5). Risk taker
A person who is strong enough to take a risky risk, but in this regard, it must be a calculated risk that is backed with research and backup solutions.
When I was still working at the farm as a farm worker, I introduced a vegetable garden at the homestead where I was working. Plowing vegetables was not part of my job, but I identified the need and implemented it, and it became a success.
When I was employed in my first job as a Dakaboy in the construction industry, I was very visible and active that I was promoted within 2 weeks of employment. I managed to start a construction company, yet I was not a builder. I hired builders, and I worked with them as their Dakaboy, yet being their employer.
When I was still working, I would bring new ideas to my employer, and in most cases, my ideas would be thrown away, but I would never give up. This is the reason why I decided to start my own business because I was confident that my plans would work.
I am able to see an idea in a vision and then convert that vision into reality. I always come up with a solution. My team knows that no matter how hard it might be, I always find a solution.
So those are some of the practical qualities that one can examine to see if one is an entrepreneur.
If you are a person who says, “I have $500000,” What business should I start with that amount? Forget it. You are not an entrepreneur. You don’t ask people what business should I start. You dream of a business idea, or let me say you identify a business idea yourself, and you should know how you will make it happen. Remember, you don’t start a business because you have money. You start a business to create money.
Most businesses that start with adequate funding normally fail within the first five years of operation. Those that start with very limited funding progress beyond five years.
Starting capital is not a fundamental requirement to start a successful business. A good idea supported with knowledge can yield better results even with limited resources.
Starting with limited resources is an advantage.
